Pre-Meeting Session
Community Based Hearing Aid Fitting Using the WFA Method

Due to the wide access gap in global hearing healthcare, which disproportionately affects low and middle income countries, the Starkey Hearing Foundation (SHF) has developed a community-based Wide Frequency Audibility (WFA®) fitting method to bridge the access gap and provide meaningful benefits for people with hearing loss across the globe. The method, which continues to evolve to meet the ever-growing need for hearing care, is simple, sustainable, and scalable. This workshop will describe the WFA® in the context of the SHF’s community-based hearing healthcare model. The SHF’s community-based hearing healthcare model consists of 3 phases and can have a 4th phase for specific situations. The Wide Frequency Audibility (WFA®) fitting method is part of the major component of the Phase 2 of the SHF’s community-based hearing healthcare model. The phases will be both discussed and demonstrated in the workshop and the rationale behind the method and the model will also be explained.

  • Understand the rationale for the Community Based Ear and Hearing Care model developed by the Starkey Hearing Foundation
  • Experience the steps of the Wide-Frequency Audibility (WFA) Fitting method developed by the Starkey Hearing Foundation
  • Observe the WFA model in action
