community regulation in noise control towards less noise city

Background: noise pollution tends to increase as long as developing industrial scene and recent trends in technology, but still little attention is paid. Impact of increased noise in city environments brings more exposed community develop hearing loss. Those are among workers in factory or recreational area, also in school or even hospital. The excessive noise affected in to various age, since birth to elderly. the impact of noise reaches all of age groups, both at school, work, shopping mall, amusement and recreational area. The prevention of noise induced hearing loss should be in top priority. There is an urgency to increase the community awareness and take action for noise reduction. The effort to raise awareness and noise control in community, need to be supported by the regulation. a recommendation for noise awareness campaign should be made to achieve less noise city. Method: a cross sectional study was taken in schools, working class, entertainment venues, amusement area, workplaces, highways, hospital and other potential hazardous noise in community activities. Measurement the sources of noise with Sound Level Meter and Hearing level with audiometer. Questioner was taken to evaluate the awareness and hearing loss prevention program. Result: The noise intensity were varied, some could reach up to 85 dB or more. Hearing level was increased more prevalent in noise exposed community. The use of ear protection was not applied properly. There was a need to urge the hearing prevention program in population at risk. Discussion: Data collection of potential dangerous noise needs to be done and provide the notification warning of noise hazard and educate the public. Implementing regulations for prevention of noise pollutions in the community by optimizing the role of health and safety responsible parties to implement the program towards less noise city.
