Programs & Activities to Reach the Goal of Sound Hearing 2030

The Indonesian National Committee on Prevention & Management of Deafness and Hearing Loss, known in Indonesia as Komnas PGPKT, launched by the Minister of Health in 2007. Its programs consists of 1) Main Programs, 2) Specific Programs, 3) National Campaign Programs, 4) Survey & Research Programs and 5) Local Committees Special Programs.. The main programs consists of 3: a) Establishing / launching of Local Committees in all areas of Indonesia (Provinces, Districts and Cities), that will disseminate and activate the programs of the National Committee in each regional areas. Until September 2016, a total of 133 Regional Committees has been established, consisting of 24 Provincial Committees (out of 33 Provinces in Indonesia) and 109 District & City Committees; b) Training PHC Doctors and Ear Kit Donation to improve the Ear & Hearing Care at the PHC service and to include the program as a sustainable program starting from promotion, early detection, treatment, re / habilitation and referral, especially in the 5 five leading causes of preventable deafness & hearing loss, defined by WHO. These are: Congenital Hearing Loss, Chronic Otisis Media, Noise Induced Hearing Loss, Presbycusis and Cerumen, c) Training of Midwifes on Early Detection of Born Deaf Babies. These three programs, constitutes benchmark programs to be implemented immediately by the Local PGPKT , as soon as they are established. The Specific programs consists of 1) Indonesia BBT, it is a social program for Ear Cleaning in Elementary School students, 2)"Save Vocational Students from NIHL" Program, 3) Helping Hands on Ear Micro Surgery Program to improve medical services in the management of CSOM, 4) Program of "Brighter Future for Deaf Babies & Children”, 5) Program for Elderly: "Hear Well & Happy Life for Elderly", 6) Healthy Ear Districts, 7) Motivate affordable and high quality hearing aids for all deaf and hearing impaired people. The National Campaign Program consists of 1) The National Awareness Campaign on prevention of hearing impairment in the risk populations and the whole communitym 2) “Less Noise City” Campaign in the noisy areas such as children amusement places in mals, recreational areas, Army & Police, traffic etc., 3) Noise Awareness Campaign in youth and young adults, 4) Funwalk, Car Free Day performed during the Ear Care Day and International NAD The Survey & Research Program consists of 1) of Survey of noise intensity in noisy places & sources such in children amusement places, 2) In vocational schools workshop places, were found out to have machinals that produces noise more than 100 dB such as chainsaws, grinders, compressors etc., 3) Hearing screening survey of students grade 12 from 13 Vocational Schools in Indonesia, of grade 12, and questionaire of the impact of noise on their psychologic behavior. The Local Committee’s Special Programs are programs that were developed by the local committees, according to their special need and situation: Hopefully with these programs, the goal of Sound Hearing 2030 will be established.
