RATIONAL FOR EXTENDING INDICATION IN COCHLEAR IMPLANT
The author will discuss the rational for extending indication in cochlear implant.
First in severe hearing loss based on 144 patients with preoperative residual hearing the author will described the gain between to preoperative word discrimination and postoperative.
Second, the author will present a medico economic study in single side deafness based on 150 patients comparing the binaural benefit with 3 types of auditory implant (CROS, BAHA and CI).
Last, the author will present the evolution of cognitive function in the elderly patient after CI at 1 year and 7 years on 94 patients.
This extension of indication will be put in perspective. Which should be the benefit (size of effect) to justified the reimbursement in developing countries?
- The goal is to discuss the interest of extending indication of auditory implant in emerging country
- To evaluate the cost effectiveness of different auditory implant
- To describe the tape of criteria demand by health authority in France
