Engaging Funders: Grant Writing

Revenue sources are limited to support your work as a parent, professional, or nonprofit organization. Even in times of economic prosperity, many individuals and nonprofit organizations have to scramble in order to maintain a steady flow of funding to improve services in low-resource communities. While most individuals and nonprofits find funding from a variety of sources, one staple of support comes in the form of grants. Consequently, individuals and nonprofit professionals should be well versed in finding funders and crafting effective grant proposals to support projects to improve hearing health services. Whether you’re appealing for funds from private organizations, individual investors, government agencies, or charitable donation services, understanding how to leverage the specific requirements of a proposal (cover letter, executive summary, organizational information, description of your project goals, proposed strategy for meeting those goals, method for evaluating your success, fully developed budget, appendix) to appeal and be consistent with a funder’s mission are essential to obtain project support. Join our hands-on discussion about components of your strategic project planning including how to find possible funders using free online resources and how to write an effective grant proposal referencing provided samples.
